Spartanburg School District Three has achieved worldwide accreditation through AdvancED, the world’s largest education community, serving more than 30,000 public and private schools and districts across the United States and in more than 70 countries that educate over 16 million students.
We are one of seven school districts in the county of Spartanburg, South Carolina, located in the northwestern part of the state. The district serves approximately 3000 students in four elementary schools (K-5); two middle schools (6-8); and one high school (9-12). The Daniel Morgan Technology Center serves students in Spartanburg County school districts Three and Seven.
The district employs 451 staff members. Of those, 273 are certified employees; 178 are classified staff. According to the 2012 District Report Card issued by the state of South Carolina, 65.4% of district teachers hold advanced degrees; 28 teachers are certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Of all classes taught, 99.4% are staffed by instructors who are “highly qualified” under the guidelines of No Child Left Behind.
Athletic programs are offered at the high school and middle school. The high school supports 24 teams. Each middle school supports four teams and shares one team, wrestling. All three schools have excellent programs as demonstrated in the Successes links on the home page. Middle school students are allowed to participate in sports at the high school level beginning in the seventh grade with the exception of football, wrestling and varsity soccer.
While we may be a small district, we are a mighty district!
