Broome defeated Woodruff by the final of 77-53. The Centurions took care of business on the defensive end making it very difficult for Woodruff to get any good looks at the bucket. For most of the first half, Broome was consistently switching defenses in the half-court and this had Woodruff mesmerized at times. The boys were up 17-7 after one quarter and then 39-24 at the half. During that first half, David Miller ignited the crowd with a few fan-pleasing plays well above the rim. More pressure was applied in the third quarter as they increased their lead to 62-39 and then they cruised to the victory in the 4th quarter. David Miller led all scorers with 28 points, but he also had 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. He was joined in double figures by LaShawn Kershaw with 11 and Khalil Stringer with 10. Keonta O’Fair and Jarius Jeter also had 6 rebounds apiece in this game.
This was a huge win for the Centurions as they secured a playoff spot in this highly competitive region. This marks the second year in a row that the boys have gone on to play in the playoffs, so keep up the great work. The next region matchup will be Friday night against Clinton, so we are looking forward to another competitive gave.
