The Broome High School varsity baseball team traveled to Clinton on Friday, March 28 for a Region III-AAA showdown. Broome was defeated 8-7 in 11 innings and fell to 6-6 (2-4) on the season.

Broome trailed 5-2 in the sixth when Sophomore Ryan Chesebro delivered a crucial 2 out base hit that drove in 2 runs to cut the lead to 5-4. Broome took the lead in the seventh but couldn't hold the lead and went to the eighth.

Clinton hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th inning to score the winning run. Broome played hard but couldn't come up with the big hit. The team could have given up when falling behind 5-2 but they responded and battled hard. Instead of allowing this loss to linger,  Broome will look to continue to improve and play well against county rival, Chapman on Monday.

Broome travels to Chapman on Monday, March 30th to play the Panthers in a non region matchup. JV will start at 5:00 and Varsity will start at 7:30.

Broome was led by Senior Jacob Marcengill who went 3-6 with 2 RBIs and a 2-run HR.
